What makes Chase Sloe Gin worth trying?

Sloe gin is one of Britain's great hedgerow drinks: gin softened and deepened by sloe berries, giving dark fruit, gentle sweetness and a warming finish. It bridges summer drinking and autumn evenings neatly.

Why we picked it

September sits between seasons. Chase Sloe Gin gives us something that still works with bubbles, but starts to bring richer berry notes for cooler nights.

What to taste for

Dark berry fruit, jammy depth, soft almond-like sweetness and a gentle warming finish.

Best first serve

Neat over ice if you want the fruit to lead, with tonic for a longer drink, or topped with Prosecco for a sparkling berry serve.

Bar team tip: Sloe gin changes a lot with the serve. Over ice it feels rich; with tonic it becomes sharper; with bubbles it turns into a celebration drink.

How to get more from the glass

You do not need to be a spirits expert. Use these notes to decide whether this month's bottle suits your taste.

Pairs well with

  • Roast pork or turkey, where berry notes work like a fruit sauce
  • Cheese and savoury snacks
  • Desserts with apple, berry or almond flavours

Try it if you like

  • Berry spritzes
  • Port or fruit-led after-dinner drinks
  • Gin, but want something softer

Useful words

Sloe berry

The small dark fruit of the blackthorn bush. It gives sloe gin its deep berry flavour.

Maceration

The process of steeping fruit in alcohol so colour, aroma and flavour move into the spirit.

Aperitif

A drink served before food to wake up the palate. A lighter sloe gin serve can work this way.

Why we do it

The Anchor is a community pub at heart. The Manager's Special is our monthly thank-you, a way to share premium spirits at a price that feels fair, and to keep the back bar fun for everyone.

  • Give back to our locals with a proper discount on a standout bottle.
  • Make it easy to try something premium without committing to a full bottle.
  • Showcase the best of our spirits range at genuine pub prices.

How it works

  1. 1We pick one premium spirit for the month.
  2. 2Every serve of that bottle is 25% off for the whole month.
  3. 3Ask the bar team for the best serve, tasting notes and garnish.

No memberships, no vouchers, no happy-hour window, just one great bottle, all month.
