Most people searching for a Christmas do near Heathrow are choosing between two completely different products, and nobody ever says so out loud. One is a party night: a shared room in a hotel, a fixed price per head, a set menu and entertainment laid on. The other is a Christmas dinner: your group, your own table, a proper meal, and then you go home. Both are good. Booking the wrong one is how you end up with eleven colleagues sitting in silence next to a dance floor they never asked for.
Here is the honest comparison, including the bit where we tell you we are not the right answer.
The short answer
If your group wants a dance floor, a DJ and a room full of a few hundred strangers all doing the same thing at the same time, book a hotel party night. That is a genuinely good product and we do not offer it. We stopped running shared Christmas party nights, and we have not replaced them with a watered-down version.
If your group wants to sit down together, eat a Christmas dinner, talk without shouting, and leave when they feel like it, that is what we do. Our festive menu is a real sit-down set menu, not a party night with a different name.

Who a hotel party night genuinely suits
You have a mixed team who barely see each other and you want the night to carry itself. Entertainment does a lot of social work: it gives people something to look at when the conversation runs dry, and nobody has to make small talk for three straight hours.
You want the whole thing bundled. One price, one decision. If you are organising for forty people who cannot agree on anything, a fixed package is a mercy.
You want to dance. This is the honest one. A pub dinner has no dance floor at Christmas. If dancing is the point, we are the wrong booking and you will be disappointed.
Who a sit-down Christmas dinner genuinely suits
You want to hear each other. Teams that genuinely like each other tend to want the conversation, not the DJ, and families almost always do. If the point is catching up, a room built for volume works against you.
You have a group of mixed ages. Children, grandparents and everyone in between do better at a table than in a ballroom. Children are welcome here, and so are dogs, throughout the pub on a lead, with water bowls and biscuits on the house.
You do not want a per-head price you cannot control. Some people want three courses. Some want one and an early night. Each person picks their own tier rather than the whole table committing to the same thing.
You are flying in or driving. Terminal 5 is about 7 minutes away, Terminals 2 and 3 about 11, Terminal 4 about 12, and Junction 14 of the M25 is 2 minutes. We are outside the ULEZ zone, and the 441, 442 and 555 buses stop nearby. Directions are on our find us page.
What a Christmas dinner at a village pub is honestly like
It is a pub. There will be people at the bar who have not come for Christmas dinner and are just having a pint, because that is what a village pub is for. It is not a private ballroom and it does not pretend to be.
You get your own table. The food comes to you, the trimmings come with it (pigs in blankets, stuffing and brussels sprouts), and adults get a glass of prosecco on every tier, or orange juice instead. Children on the 1-course option get a Fruit Shoot or a small soft drink.
The room is warm and busy rather than hushed, and the noise is people talking rather than amplified music. If that sounds underwhelming, that is a useful signal: you probably want the party night. Plenty of groups read it and think, yes, that is exactly it.
Access belongs in an honest comparison too. The car park, the bar and the dining area are step-free, and assistance dogs are always welcome. The beer garden has steps down from the bar, though we can put a ramp out if you ask ahead. What we do not have is an accessible toilet, and a modern hotel will. If someone in your group needs one, that on its own is a good reason to book the hotel, and we would rather tell you in August than have you find out in December.
How ours actually works
- When: 10 November to 20 December 2026, and the 20th is included. Sittings run Tuesday to Saturday, plus Sunday from 1pm to 6pm. There are no Monday sittings, because the kitchen is closed on Mondays.
- Group size: minimum 6 guests on every Christmas dinner booking. More than 20 guests is private hire rather than a table booking.
- Notice: at least 24 hours. We cannot take same-day Christmas bookings.
- Deposit: £10 per person on every Christmas booking whatever the size. Taken at booking, non-refundable, and it comes straight off your bill on the day.
- Courses: each person picks 1, 2 or 3 courses. The 2 and 3 course tiers need a pre-order, and choices are due seven days before your booking date. The 1 course tier is pre-book only, no pre-order, which is the flexible option if your group decides late.
- Children: there is no kids 2-course or 3-course tier and no child price for those. Children may order the adult 2 or 3 course tier at the adult price. The 1 course does have a kids version.
- Prices: live from our booking system, and they differ between Tuesday to Thursday and Friday to Saturday. We will not print a number here that might be stale by the time you read it.
- The menu: released closer to the time. See menu or contact us for allergen information.
- Bigger and standing: we can seat 60 at Christmas, or 200 standing. If you want food that circulates instead, our festive buffets are Festive Sandwich & Salad, Festive Hot Finger and Festive Premium Grazing, minimum 30 guests, no exceptions. The question that settles it
Would your group rather talk or dance? If the honest answer is dance, book the hotel. If it is talk, book the dinner. Almost every other difference follows from that one.

Does The Anchor do Christmas party nights?
No. We do not run shared Christmas party nights any more. What we do is a sit-down festive set menu for your own group, with 1, 2 or 3 courses chosen per person. There is one thing in the December diary worth asking about: our Christmas quiz. It is not part of a Christmas booking, but a group can choose a date around it. If you want a shared party night with entertainment laid on, a hotel package is the right call, and we would rather you booked the thing you actually want.
What is the smallest group you take for Christmas dinner?

How far is it from Heathrow, and is parking free?
Terminal 5 is about 7 minutes by car (3.8 miles), Terminals 2 and 3 about 11 minutes, Terminal 4 about 12. Parking is free: 20 spaces on site, level, floodlit, with CCTV and no time limit while you are visiting.
When can we book Christmas dinner?
